Leaving The Democrats: Stuck In The Middle With You

Leaving the Democrats sounds easier than it is. I’ve been a lifelong Democrat–since I turned 18 in 1971–which coincidentally, was the year the 26th Amendment was ratified by Nixon. Or certified. I never know which is which. But the prez does something when he signs something else.

It has bothered me more than once, this inability to talk over issues with people who hold differing views, or who voted differently than I. I’m not free from temper, either, if I meet a brick wall. But a feeling of relief came over me the other day when I realized that not only are those people not who they say they are, but that I’m not who I used to be.

I’m not right, I’m not left, I’m stuck in the middle with the rest of the Silent Majority.

I no longer support the Democratic party, or the rank and file members, most of whom can’t manage the simplest of conversations about any issue without having a meltdown, greased by the slime of their unimaginative name calling. (Republicans aren’t innocent of that, either.) There are notable exceptions in my network, which is why they are in my network. The others just took awhile to weed themselves out. At least make an effort if you HAVE to call someone a name. Use some imagination.

In the last week alone, I’ve been spit on verbally three or four times by “friend” and stranger alike, (twice just for objecting to name calling! Haha!) and unfriended on Facebook by millions, all by so-called “open minded liberals” who never, ever see the irony in this. The names come thick and fast as leaves in Vallombrosa.

They don’t even wait for things to escalate; it goes straight to “kick you in the teeth,” conversation over.

To not see irony is unforgivable in my play book, and it says something about their intelligence quotient. When you call yourself a liberal, but can’t listen to any opinion that isn’t your own, you aren’t a liberal, are you? Maybe I’m being naive about the definition. Let’s look it up.

*sound of footsteps receding down a hall and then coming back*

Look! I found it! Here is the dictionary definition of a liberal:

Favoring reform, open to new ideas, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; not bound by traditional thinking; broad-minded.

Did you see where I bolded it? Yeah, that ain’t the way it’s been in my experience.

“This is discombobulating.”

This is not the party I signed on to in 1971, though we were a nation in flux then, as well. There were some serious upheavals back then. We just didn’t have the internet to teach us about how to REALLY be nasty to each other and get away with it.

Refraining from name calling and having civilized discussions over who stole your Twinkie, is something people should have learned in the first grade in Neener, Neener 101, which is a prerequisite to Nyah, Nyah, 102. Clearly, they didn’t. With the absence of teachers and moms, all hell has broken loose, particularly among those who are WAY beyond the age of “knowing better.”

Now they have No Bullying Zones in schools, which means if you aren’t in that zone, you get to bully people.

I don’t mind shedding the label of liberal if it means I get to stab these people in the neck with a knitting needle. If you wouldn’t call me a “sanctimonious moron with her head up her sphincter” if we are having coffee together, you’re a craven coward when you do it online simply because I’m not within a knitting needle’s reach of your neck, and you’re ticked because I said both CNN and Fox News are transparently and insultingly biased and I don’t like name calling.

Twits.

The big crack in my delusional belief that being a Democrat is still a good thing came this week, January 06, 2021. All last summer, I watched and read about the “mostly peaceful” protests taking place across the country. I watched the “mostly peaceful protestors” take over downtown Seattle–where people live and work and have businesses–after driving out the police, and where, eventually, four people were killed–two of them kids who were shot–and not by cops.

The Democrats did NOTHING.

Leaving the Democrats on Chezgigi.com

They kept on doing NOTHING as rioters looted, burned, trashed businesses–many of them owned by minorities–beat people, congregated without masks, threw molotov cocktails everywhere, invaded and trashed the Justice Center in Portland, as 30 people ultimately died, and one billion dollars worth of damage was done. None of the “liberals” in my network said a word about it being wrong.

Indeed, Kamala Harris, our once and future vice president, next in line for the presidency said:

In June 2020….Kamala Harris…..predicted that the protests, during which rioting and looting occurred, wouldn’t end, telling Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show, that they shouldn’t end.“They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop,” she told him. “This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. And everyone should take note of that. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.”

(White protestors must have taken her at her word.)

The protests Kamala Harris spoke of were responsible for an estimated $1 – $2 billion in property damage between May 26 and June 8, 2020, and dozens of deaths, including that of retired St. Louis police officer David Dorn.

What would happen if Trump said of the protestors who stormed the U.S. Capitol Wednesday, “They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop. This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.”

(Well, Mr. T, they’d probably accuse you of inciting violence and insurrection and demand you be locked up. Oops. They already did.)

But Trump never said anything like that. In fact, Trump urged his supporters to go home.

“I know your pain, I know your hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. It was a landslide election, and everyone knows it, especially the other side. But you have to go home now. We have to have peace. We have to have law and order. We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt.”

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris didn’t condemn the BLM riots that plagued cities nationwide like Portland, Minnesota, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, and Kenosha until polling suggested that they needed to.

They have never condemned any of the violence or destruction from last summer. Not once. None of the Democrats in my network did, either.

But suddenly, on January 06, 2020, a crowd of “mostly peaceful protestors” were “thugs” who had congregated to protest and who went into “insurrection” mode to take over the Capitol in order to “kidnap, torture, and kill” people. (A direct quote from a former friend who was unable to discuss this without accusing me of quoting QAnon, of which I am barely aware.) I also was not aware that she knew the ultimate intentions of the guy dressed in a horned helmet to kidnap, torture, and kill. Does she have inside knowledge of their intentions? Yoo, hoo! FBI!

It is captured forever on film that they were let into the building by Capitol police, and further, there was little damage done. Damn cameras.

The offensive and repugnant hypocrisy and the double standards of what used to be my political party are breathtaking. I cannot post the URL on Facebook of the site where I read the excerpts from the posts below. It is deemed “spam.” It is alternative media, meaning non-mainstream, but then spam is a mishmosh of meats, too. Twitter can keep on keeping on, but Parler is about to come down. Gab.com cannot accept Visa because free speech and Visa is against it. The list goes on.

Twitter allows the Ayatollah (!!) to tweet, but bans the president. They accuse him of inciting violence and distributing false information, but allowed Twats on Twitter to post death threats to the white teen who was “smirking” at the Native American man two years ago. The mainstream media manipulated that story to make the teen look like he was harassing the man, but he had done nothing wrong except be white and wear a MAGA hat. Outrageous. The boy should die.

No one seems to remember these things. The Washington Post was proven to be guilty of it. Right is right and wrong is wrong, I don’t care who you support.

“Neener, neener.”

While “liberals” post sappy, mealy-mouthed messages of admiration for their “medical heroes,” in real time, they’d spit on them if they learned the nurse or doctor who saved their life voted Republican. They spit on and sneer at the all the people who keep the country running, while they sit on their butts at home, comfortably retired, kids grown, deriding and hating the Americans who drive the trucks that deliver their groceries, who fight the fires, who help keep the peace, who fill their prescriptions, who build and fix their cars and houses, who support charities, are their neighbors, co-workers.

What am I saying? They hate their own friends and family for voting or thinking differently.

Just calling them liberals makes me want to throw up. These same “liberals” would wail and wring their hands over book burning, while they light a match behind their backs and burn books with which they don’t agree. How do these people look at themselves in the mirror and think they are righteous?

The creepiest thing I have heard more than one “liberal” say is that conservatives should be “reprogrammed.” Again with the missing irony. Old school Commies are laughing their asses off knowing that what they have tried to do to us since the 1930s is finally coming true. They can relax. Mao is smiling beatifically down on them. Reprogramming. One of his favorite things.

Gee, when the church does it, they get bent out of shape.

There is no fury so fiery as the one that springs up in the breast of the trusting after being lied to, deluded, and manipulated. No anti smoker was ever so aggressively against it than the former smoker, no religious zealot so anti sinner as a former sinner, no one so “awoke” as a sleeping giant. Not a new thought, but the Democrats have shot themselves in the foot once again, because I know I’m not the only defector from the ranks of the deluded.

Last summer, without reading anything about it, I had the thought that the Democrats were using the pandemic to destroy the economy. It is almost impossible to unseat a president in a strong economy, which ours was. Unemployment was down to 3.5%.

The Democrats despise Trump, the most controversial president in living memory, and they knew he’d win a second term. According to the last excerpt posted below and a book that is now out, I’m not the only one thinking it. Both sides would go to any lengths to unseat a president they despise.

Ken Starr spent 40 some million dollars of our money trying to bring down Bill Clinton. At least he didn’t almost ruin the entire country, or destroy lives and businesses doing it.

For that alone, I hate my former party. Again, not necessarily individually, because most Democrats are as delusional as anyone else and would never believe that’s what happened, or that their party could be so despicable. What planet are they from?

Yes, leaving the Democrats has been awhile in coming, but the rampant hypocrisy, the destruction of all things American, and the absolute STUPIDITY of some of the things the Left is doing–like making Math a white patriarchy issue–has worked my last nerve.

The light dawned after I read Fred Freed’s (Fred Freed on Everything) account of how Thomas Jefferson High School has dropped the IQ test required for admission having been forced to do it by a civil lawsuit.

Below is an excerpt from his post, the post that turned on the lights for me. Check out his post on how far we’ve fallen behind China. It’s enlightening. In 20 years, we will be a Third World country compared to them and all because we’ve been led down this cheery path of self-hatred.

I say to all the white “woke” folk who hate themselves so passionately: Why don’t you give up your stuff, stuff like your cars, maybe, and walk with the black folk who you feel have been left behind? The car was invented by the Bad White Man, right? If it t’were ME, I would stop and ask them to hop in and keep moving forward with us, instead of pretending that we can keep everyone back and that will make the world fair and just.

No Child Left Behind was a disaster. You don’t keep everybody back to make it easier for the slower child. That’s just stupid.

Fred Freed on Everything:

Strange that a country once at least literate, a country for decades way and gone the world’s font of science and technology, a country that at its apogee put men on the moon and invented the modern world, should intentionally suppress the intelligence that made it what it was and reduce itself to the level of picking wild bananas and digging for roots.

Yet this is happening. From the drains of society oozes a sump of envy, of resentment, of bruised incapacity, of rabble seeking revenge against those of a higher order. Chusma, morlocks, school boards, vegetables, everywhere pulling down the bright, raging against the brighter, whom they now want to destroy.

An example of what is coming: From The Independent: “A university professor has claimed teaching maths perpetuates “unearned” white privilege…Titled “Building Support for Scholarly Practices in Mathematics Methods”, Ms Gutierrez argues a focus on Pythagorean theorem and pi feed into the idea that math was (sic) developed by the Greeks and Europeans…

Seattle is definitely on the forefront with this,” said Robert Q. Berry III, the president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. “What they’re doing follows the line of work we hope we can move forward as we think about the history of math and who contributes to that, and also about deepening students’ connection with identity and agency.

What were men such as Gauss, Galois, Cantor, Euler, Newton, Archimedes, Hardy, Hamilton, Laplace were—what? Ethiopians, no doubt. Or maybe bushmen. I cannot doubt it. There was Ramanujan, one of the greats, Indian. Further back, other Indians and Arabs who came up with our number system, zero, algebra. But it is not Indians and Arabs calling for the endumbment (I say it is a word) of American math.

We must get rid, we are told, of AP courses because the cerebrally negligible can’t understand them. Grammar is discrimination because political sensitives find it puzzling. We must ban the SATs because they make obvious what everybody knows, drop algebra requirements in universities because they make visible the inescapable. Math courses are oppression in the view of education majors and other gibbering cretins. Do anything and everything to placate the malignant envy that bubbles up from septic fields of a doomed country.”

If those aren’t powerful words, I don’t what are.

Watching the destruction and riots last summer–the takeover of downtown Seattle, and all the rest–be ignored and condoned along with the destruction of our economy, while January 06 is treated like another 9/11, means I’m finito, finished, Exit: Stage Right, gone, decamped.

It’s a wrap, Dem Oh Crat.

From another post on an alternative media site:

Regardless of what we eventually learn about whether sharpies can cause ballots to be misread, or whether a “glitch” flipped Trump votes to Biden votes, there is still ample reason for the 70 million Trump voters to think that this thing was rigged. In the months preceding the election, America saw a massive overreach of state and local government power in the form of COVID lockdowns, the net effect of which was to ruin far more lives than it saved. Is it paranoia to think that the intention here was to crash the economy and render Trump unelectable?

Consider: Virtually the entire media was not only against Trump, but made it their personal mission to take him down by any means necessary. No lie, no distortion was too ridiculous or too scurrilous. Leftists in government, journalism, academia, and the entertainment industry openly declared that anything and everything was permissible in order to take down the “existential threat” posed by Orange Man. This was the fertile ground onto which were sowed the seeds of speculation about election fraud.

The lockdowns coincided with months of coordinated rioting billed as “protests” against “racial injustice.” The rioters somehow weren’t subject to the rules of the lockdowns, because apparently COVID takes a holiday when it is politically expedient. This double standard was so obscene and so blatant, it enraged Republican voters (as well as a few honest rank and file Democrats of my acquaintance).

The Left calculated, correctly, that Trump would do little or nothing to stop the rioting, out of fear of looking too dictatorial in an election year. Trump’s own calculation was that allowing the riots to happen would give the Left plenty of rope with which to hang itself. Trump was wrong; his inaction made him seem weak. The basic hope of the Left was that months of economic and social chaos would fatally wound Trump, and that voters would be too stupid to see that it was actually the Left that was to blame for it. In the main, it looks like they were right about this.

But diehard Trump supporters correctly saw that the lockdowns and riots were an election year strategy hatched by the Left. If they were not wholly designed by the Left to damage Trump, they were at least manipulated for that purpose. The cherry on the cake came in the weeks leading up to the election, in the form of big tech’s censorship of news damaging to Biden, including blocking the New York Post’s stories about Biden’s involvement in his son’s shady business deals. This classically Orwellian move finally reached an extreme few would ever have even thought possible, when at last social media began censoring the President himself.

Interesting.

I encourage businesses to hire people who have been fired for taking part in protests or a political rally not blessed and approved by the Left (although I’ve seen plenty of minorities at these rallies), or who have been fired for how they vote. Hire them yourself, or help them to start businesses. Write to publishers and promise to buy Josh Hawley’s book if they will publish it. (I don’t know anything about him or his book, but I’d do it just because they pulled their offer.)

Keep your kids out of school if you can, even if they reopen, and if you can’t, demand to see the exact curriculum the schools are teaching. If you don’t like it, demand change. This is the country your kids will inherit–do you want it to be trashed as the Left promises it will be? Do you want your kids to have to bury their gifts, their intelligence, their spark, because someone thinks it’s not fair for them to have these things?

And somebody please, start a new party for Moderates: Moderate Democrats, maybe. Or find a strong Independent, and let’s vote for that candidate. I’m going to make it my mission to spread the word wherever I can.

In the meantime, midterms will be here before you know it, and we can vote out some of these bums from both parties. Can you imagine–80 million people or more NOT voting Democrat OR Republican?

Imagine there’s no Democrat or Republican for president….It’s easy if you try…..

I’m waiting on you to get fired up.

I think I am wishing I was where you are. About three elections ago I declared myself apolitical for reasons you don’t want to ask about, unless you want to hear about the meaning of the universe. And for a couple of elections prior to that I declared myself non partisan, or independent. Prior to that I was Republican, a proud voter for Reagan, mostly because Carter embarrassed me as a Southerner, and one thing a Southerner cannot escape is embarrassing another Southerner. It’s not done and then bragged about. So, out he went. Ask any Southerner.

However, through it all I have been a conservative, holding as my North Star not merely the words but the source and intent of, “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are … endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights…”. If the words in that statement are put into practice, with each word maintaining equal importance to the others, the purpose of society is to protect every individual’s right to understand and pursue those truths as he/she perceives them from his/her Creator. The individual is higher than culture or the state, and the purpose of the state is to protect that relationship. That is political conservatism, to me.

While that view is always under assault by the tendency to pursue expediency over principal, in the past few years I have begun to believe that we have passed a tipping point in that assault, that the trends pointed out in Freed’s article and in your observations are no longer trends. They are now characteristics, ideals that the majority now believe should be pursued. There is no coming back from that. Jefferson didn’t think so either, which is why he said, “The tree of liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” A culture drifts away from freedom, not toward it, and the way back is always sacrificial.

This is a reflection of the meaning of the universe, by the way, which I said above one should think twice about before asking. I mention it here only to say that this is why I have become apolitical, choosing to assign current events a low priority. I mean, if this week scared you, consider the fact that the national debt is right at a half a Million dollars per family. Our currency is on the edge of collapse, and if one thinks this week was “a threat to democracy”, watch what happens should that occur. So, for reasons I won’t discuss here – if you ask, remember, meaning of the universe – I have decided to assign those things the paradoxically low priority they deserve.

Wait, before you say, “Hold on, Dave, write your own damn article”, I will say why I said all this:

Your article almost causes me to change my mind. You can see why I didn’t think that could be done, but you did. This was one of your best, if not the best: I can’t say which, because some of your other great ones are different in tone and purpose. But I loved reading this. You did indeed voice the perspective of all of us who know this is no longer the USA of Thomas Jefferson or John Adams. Some of us unfortunately did some unfortunate things this week, things I would not suggest, but they come from an understanding that (1) all you said is right and (2) it no longer matters. It is a frustrating place to be, and frustrations get voiced in strange ways. I think there is a better reaction than this week, even in the futility of the truth of your article. But your article did state what the truth is. What we do in the futility of it is what conservatives now have to decide.

This is as good as anything I’ve read, and it is heartening to know it had juice. We’re not alone, either. There are millions of us. We can make a difference in turning the tide a little bit.

I think Pete could grapple with this. Maybe the bunker is for escape from a different sort of pandemic.

It hurts to wake up, but is rather refreshing, too!

Gigi. I am with you a thousand percent as to the mess the great nation US of A is in.

Particularly to the realest threat posed by the LIBERALISM brain bleached Ideology that’s swinging the DEMS now.

Of particular concern the emphasis on let’s bring equality to the nation via setting norm to the lowest standards.

Just like the old saying “socialism is the greatest equalizer/,coz everyone is equally poor afterwards”.

Notwithstanding same, what occurred on Jan 6 is an abject horrible event.

In one fell swoop – America lost its so called beacon of democracy of the world.

Entrenching it to status of third world banana republics – where free and democratically won elections means squat.

Pray that a once in a lifetime POTUS will be found to lead a once most proud (in every thing) nation to its former glories.

Thanks, Ted! It’s been coming for awhile, because I still believed in the ideals posited way back when by the Dems. Geraldine Ferraro was running as VP then. My dad was always a staunch Republican, my brother a Socialist Democrat. You can imagine the fights at the dinner table.

From all of that, plus the cool, calm voice of my mom, and the fact that I was the third child, I developed that uncommon skill called “listening.”

Yes, after watching mayors encourage the taking over of entire downtowns – and leftist commentators praising it – last week just seemed to be good entertainment. While the political/societal events of 2021 are a worst nightmare, if this is what we have been choosing for ourselves, at least it’s a pretty good show.

Edit: I think what is making some on the left so mad at conservatives is that some of us react like this. They wanted the riots in the summer, and now when they get one in return last week they want to foam at the mouth, and we’re like, “The guy with the horned hat was kinda cool.”
